Rolly Poly

Jordyn is all smiles and giggles! This stage is so much fun because she is happy and smiling and still small enough to stay where you put her. We have a feeling that is all about to change as she has started rolling from her belly to her back. She hasn't quite mastered rolling from her back to her belly and usually prefers her side for hanging out and sleeping. Oh sleeping..... we have had to be creative to get some sleep and privacy of our own. You can see from the picture that we've resorted to putting her bouncy seat in her crib on a few occasions. Still, Jordyn is only sleeping 3 hours at a time. She is absolutely a daddy's girl just like her sister and goes wild when Linwood talks to her or kisses her. I think she gets more kisses than anyone in the family when you factor in how India showers her with hugs and kisses on an hourly basis. We Love You, Linwood, Sara, India, and Jordyn

The Adventures of India

With less than 2 weeks left until her 2nd birthday, India is quite the energetic ball of mischief. As you can see from the pictures she has figured out how to hide in the cabinets. Hide and seek is one of her favorite games and she is hiding from us every chance she gets...this has brought on a few near heart attacks but is mostly just fun! She is again exercising her right to eat only what she wants (right now it's fish sticks and yogurt with cheerios)and go to the potty only when she wants (which hasn't been that frequently since this weekend). While it can be trying at times it's exciting to see her becoming so independant and opinionated. Everyday is an adventure, as you can see by her latest picture where she's covered with dirt from head to toe. I think I'll be picking dirt out of her hair until she's 3 :-) We love you all, Linwood, Sara, India, and Jordyn

Ornery Selves

Today India reached a new milestone of orneriness. We were upstairs getting ready for bed. I was in her room picking out her pajamas and clothes for the next day. She was in the bathroom cabinet and I wasn't worried because there's nothing in there that she shouldn't have. Well, things got quiet and when I walked into the bathroom she was in the tub with all of her clothes on. India had dumped an entire bottle of baby bath into the tub. She was having a ball rubbing the soap all over herself and the tub. What a mess!!! It was like trying to hold onto a wet bar of soap as I tried to get her out of her clothes. There was nothing left to do but fill the tub with water and wash away all the soap. India had the bubblebath of her life. She was absolutely thrilled! She kept screaming "bubbles!" and she now knows what they taste like, smell like, and feel like in your eyes (thank goodness for no tears). I fear that no bath experience the rest of her life will compare with this experience. I am sorry to say that there are no pictures because she couldn't be left alone in the slippery mess to go get the camera. Love you!!

23 months and 3 months

Everyday we ponder where the time has gone. The Washington girls are growing and getting more and more beautiful every day! India has decided she's ready to talk more and picks up more and more words everyday. It's amazing the things that she repeats:-) The weather has been beautiful here for the past week (50's and 60's) so we've gotten to play outside. This is where India is in heaven! She runs around climbing up sliding boards, pushing her cars, playing in the rocks, and screaming with delight. If you want to win her over, give her a ball! Jordyn tolerates being outside for short periods of time. This is typically not her favorite activity because she's usually strapped into something and not getting her share of the attention. She is almost always happy and smiling and has a way of stealing everyone's heart that sees her. We wish we could give her a pill to get her stop growing...just for a little while longer. Her latest and greatest are rolling onto her side, scootching in a circle, sucking on her fingers...any of them, and squealing to get her big sister's attention.
We love you and miss you,
Linwood, Sara, India, and Jordyn

Jordyn in the Spotlight

Valentine's 2009

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Our little Valentines are doing amazing. India has officially progressed to her own big girl bed and forfeited the crib for her baby sister. She is finding the toddler bed much safer than the crib and has not fallen out or been found sleeping in an odd place since this transition. She is talking more and more everyday. This month her daycare (and at home) is focusing on a color every week. She has learned red and blue. This week is green week. India is a great sharer when it comes to her food. At the table she loves to say "Want some?" and "Eat" as she pushes half eaten, already chewed food our way. It's cute! Jordyn is getting more exciting everyday as well. As far as she's concerned her hands are the most fascinating thing on the planet. She is not a fan of tummy time and gets mad everytime she is forced to practice. I must say that she's getting pretty good at it though! I think she'll be an early crawler based on her trying to push up with her legs everytime she's on her belly. She keeps on getting tougher as well. This weekend she took her first spill when India decided she wanted to lay where Jordyn was and "gently pushed" her onto the floor. Never a dull moment! We love you all! Linwood, Sara, India, and Jordyn

The girls here are wonderful!! Jordyn is growing out of all of her clothes, India is holding onto the wall walking up the stairs and the other day was reading a book, holding it with both hands and walking up the stairs. I told Linwood we could go on a date after the girls went to bed but he diagreed. India has a sit and spin, mom thought that she couldn't go without it. Instead of her sitting and spinning she stands and spins until she hits the deck. We laugh at her so she laughs with us. No blood means no crying in the Washington house. The other morning India asked to go to the potty and went like a big girl all by herself. We are so proud of her!! Linwood is just happy he will only have to buy pampers for one person soon instead of two.

Even though Jordyn favors her mom in comaparison to who her older sister looks like, she is on her way to becoming a daddy's girl for sure.
Who needs a son when you have two girls that are simply crazy about you.
They both will be into sports by choice we hope. India throws and plays ball with her dad almost daily.

India is now in her big girl bed and that gives her the liberty to roam when she wakes up. In fact, we never know where we will find her when we check on her. One night she climbed into Mommy's glider and fell asleep. This weekend during nap time she was laying on a pillow on the floor with her legs crossed and her diaper on the other side of the room. It's never a suprise when we look in her room since the move into the new bed.
Peace Love and God Bless You!!

Daddy's Girls

Jordyn went to the doctors for her 2 month check up last week. She is 11 lb. 6.5 oz. and 22 1/2 inches tall. Both girls have colds and we found out that Jordyn has an ear infection...poor little thing!
It just seems like everyday the girls are getting more and more in synch with each other. India gives out lots of hugs and kisses everyday and Jordyn smiles and squeels at the sound of her big sister's voice. If it weren't for eating they wouldn't need us around at all! Speaking of eating, India is going on another of her hunger strikes. She doesn't seem interested in anything we put on her plate. What she eats one day, she doesn't eat the next. Pizza (affectionately referred to as PP by India) is usually a winner. Other than that, every meal is hit or miss. We figure she won't starve to death. If she was hungry enough those peas would look pretty good:) Jordyn on the other hand never misses a meal!! She is such a pleasant baby, always smiling and cooing.
Check out their adorable "Auntie's Shopping Buddy" shirts~

Jordyn - Two months old

Jordyn is getting bigger by the second! She is such a joy! Fortunatly for us we have another mild tempered baby. She is now smiling regularly, moving her arms, and kicking her legs. She has discovered that she has hands but the feet are still a mystery! She is now sleeping for a good 3-4 hours at a time - much better than her big sister slept at two months. During tummy time she can lift her head up and move it from side to side. She also likes to practice standing on her legs. All of the hugs and kisses from India have resulted in Jordyn's first cold. It's so sad to watch such a little one coughing and congested! Hopefully she'll be back to herself in no time. She has the other females in the house wrapped around her finger. One little sound and Jordyn waits to see which one will be there first. Jordyn is a night owl like her daddy so after Sportscenter she gets read to. With lots of joy we send our love. Linwood, Sara, Bianca and Linara

India - 21 months old

We can officially say that the weight of parenting is falling upon us as we are beginning to realize that these little ones are soaking in everything that we do and say. One of India's favorite activities is putting on Mommy's sunglasses, grabbing her purse, baby, and waving "Bye" as she slides down the steps towards the door. She tries to put Daddy's wallet into her back pocket and her baby loves to go for rides in Jordyn's carseat. She's even learned how to dip her cookies in milk!!!

BIG NEWS: While we haven't jumped completely into potty training mode, we try to get India on the potty at least once per day and .... she has gone pee and had her first poop on the potty!!!! We are so proud of her and hopefully can ease on into full fledged potty training.

India has also just begun sleeping in her big girl bed. We took the side off of the crib so that she doesn't have a choice (and we can't give in and put her in her crib when she cries). It's only been 2 nights but we're making progress. On the first night she cried and kept climbing out. We were persistent and used Super Nanny's strategy of just putting her back in bed. Eventually the sleep monster won and she fell asleep. Last night she only wimpered a little bit and we thought she did excellent. When we checked on her a few hours later she was passed out on the floor hugging her blanket. It was soooo cute!!!

Christmas Morning

The day has finally arrived!! We were definately more excited than India for Christmas morning to arrive. It is so much more fun being the parents than the child. India had no idea what she was about to experience when she woke up in the morning. As she was coming downstairs she stopped on the landing in shock of what she saw in front of her, this was not the same living room that she went to bed seeing. It only took a few seconds for her shock to turn into excitement and she was sliding down the stairs as fast as she could. We had set up the little keyboard that Aunt Mary and Uncle Wallace had gotten her, turned on a bubble machine, and there were packages everywhere from Santa, Grandma and Grandpa, and packages from her Aunts and Uncles. She went right to the keyboard, sat down and began playing as if she had been doing it all her life. I think we might have a musician on our hands! Everyone was such a blessing with all of the thoughtful gifts that they sent...personalized items, blankets, clothes, books, toys, and so much more!!!! India has played with it all and is in heaven. We spent the second half of our Christmas Day passing out treats and greetings at the hospital. We left the hospital, made a stop by the Rescue Mission then came home and enjoyed Christmas dinner together. Jordyn slept most of the day in the comfort of her sisters screaming.

Christmas Party

The week before Christmas was packed full of excitement. India had a Christmas party with her friends from daycare. She got to sit on Santa's lap again and even let her little sister sit with her. This was not such a joyous occasion...Linwood and I take comfort in the fact that she doesn't like to sit on stranger's laps:) We also had a Christmas get together with our family in Colorado. India had a blast running around, playing with Cenika, and pulling Al and Stacey's dog's hair. She was quite the musician playing Guitar Hero with everyone. Jordyn slept most of the night and was an adorable addition to the party.
We miss all of our friends and family and hope that everyone on the East Coast is enjoying their holiday.
We love you!!
