Bike Wash

India is Daddy's girl and right hand lady. She jumped right in and started helping him wash the cars. In fact, she became a little possessive of the bucket and sponge. After the cars were washed she decided to wash her bike. This was totally unprompted and oh-so-cute! The fun didn't stop there, as you can see from the picture she was having so much fun that she washed her hair and face. Jordyn only had her cheek washed, we were able to save her from the entire cleansing.

Jordyn is standing up every chance she gets, whereever she can. She is waving and the other day she tried to feed me her cracker. Another tooth is starting to peek through on the top.

Potty Training

Hello Everyone! It has been yet another exciting week at the Washington household. We went back to work and daycare. India has her first black eye. She hit her head on her bed in the middle of the night--she is definately her mother's daughter! It doesn't seem to bother her at all. Oddly enough in the days that passed the egg went away and is now a scab, doctor people, how do you get a scab when you never bled?????? Anyway, India is also officially "potty trained in the buff." This can be slightly problematic anytime we want to go somewhere or have visitors. I guess we'll do 10 loads of laundry a day until she gets tired of peeing in her clothes.
Jordyn is now 9 months. She had her check-up today and is healthy and happy. Jordyn is now 20 lbs. 5 oz. and 29" long. Both of these measurements are in the 80 - 90 percentiles. She has also learned how to clap. We have attached a video because we are sure it is the cutest thing that everyone has ever seen.(Since India first learned to clap of course.) We love you!! The Last Hurrah!

Our summer truly went out with a bang! There was the zoo, the park, walks, swimming, and gymnastics. All in three days :-) India is adjusting well to being back in daycare, she missed her friends over the summer. Jordyn is giving her daycare provider a run for her money, but we know she will settle in soon and show everyone the happy, laughing, easy-going baby that she is.

Dinner Time

We put some babyfood on Jordyn's tray to see what she would do. Surprisingly she grabbed handfuls and fed herself. She had to be taken right to the tub afterwards but she had a good time! India couldn't be left out of the pictures. She sat in her seat saying, "Cheese!"

All good things must come to an end

The girls have 3 new friends. They asked if they could spend the night, but mommy said no. Dad didn't mind, he had been looking for someone to sleep outside with them in the tent so that he wouldn't hear them crying in the night. Mommy doesn't mind even though she was woken up this morning by water on her head and India saying, "Drink Mommy." She is such a thoughtful little girl!
We are enjoying our last days of summer. India is quite the painter! She gets tired of other arts and crafts easily, but she could paint for an hour....especially if she can paint on whatever she wants. Jordyn waited patiently for her to finish:-)
The end of the summer was celebrated with a cookout and playing with cousin Cenika. The three of them are going to be trouble when they get older.

What a difference a day makes

Only 2 days ago we were trying to get Jordyn to crawl. The night before she wouldn't go to bed for pulling herself up on her knees. Yesterday she was crawling all over the living room after her toys. This morning she was standing up in her crib close to the door waiting for us to come get her. Today was the first day we had to latch the baby gate in a year. Tomorrow we expect her to be walking and asking if she can borrow the car keys.
Of course India can not be upstaged. She is 2 going on 10. We went swimming on Sunday and she did not want anyone to touch her. Even when the water was up to her chin she kept pushing my hands away saying, "No Mommy. I'm swimming." Independence is the theme of her life. She wanted to help us move Jordyn's bed down; well actually she wanted to do it herself. As we were making no progress, we gave her her own tools so she could work independently.
Now if we could just get the potty training thing down :-)

Take Your Testerone Elsewhere

Growing Up

In just a few short months it amazes me how much my little girls are growing up. Jordyn has gotten her first 2 teeth (bottom center) and has crawled for the first time. Of course, she still prefers her old method of "roll-n-scoot" to get where she wants to go. She is also able to stand up holding onto something or someone.
India gets taller by the day. She is a great big sister/little mommy. It is not uncommon to hear her say, "Mommy, J's crying, bottle please." I think that she is actually more anxious for Jordyn to be mobile than anyone else. Gentle is not a word I would use to describe her yanking Jordyn's arm saying "J walk, J walk." Hopefully they will remain great friends when Jordyn is walking and playing with India's toys.
Although it's cool and rainy in Colorado, I am relishing every second I get to spend at home with the family before returning to work. Two more weeks of play and fun!!

"No Place Like Home"

It's been a pleasure like always seeing family and friends on the East Coast during the last 2 weeks. Our few hours at the ocean in VA Beach helped us forget about the beautiful mountains in CO. The girls loved the ocean as they both learned to close their mouths when the waves hit them in the face. (Oh the joy of drinking ocean water) Another joy of our trip was the girls were able to share time with family that loves them that live in other places than 8239. We're grateful that India can put a face with the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins that she prays for every night. With all the love and joy she received we didn't see her as happy as she was when she walked into her house on Saturday. Even Jordyn knew that she was home. It was cute, exciting and a site to see. We thank each of you for your love and kindness shared with us to make our trip enjoyable.

First Trip to the Dentist

Today India got introduced to the dentist. Boy have things changed since we were kids....no more funny smell, TV above the chair, cool sunglasses, of course they still have the same prizes. She did really well, only bit the dentist twice.

A Week of Firsts

This week India and her Daddy had their first movie date. They went to see Madagascar and India enjoyed her own bag of popcorn. Daddy had popcorn too but couldn't eat it because she kept him on his toes by running to the exit yelling "Potty!" on a few occasions. They made it through the whole thing and it was a good time!

We hope that everyone had a great Fourth of July! The girls loved the cities firework display. They weren't even phased by the noise.

We'd like to put in an order for the summer to slow down. It is going toooooo fast!!!

Sleeping Beauty

Jordyn has taken to interesting sleep positions just like her big sister India. Unfortunately she is not sleeping through the night yet. At seven months we've decided to try to let her cry herself back to sleep. Who knows who will cry more, mommy or Jordyn.

First words

As if my girl's weren't big enough daddy's girls, it seems like Jordyn has officially said her first word...."dada." She has actually been saying it for a long time but I just figured it was meaningless babble. Well, it appears that I was wrong. This past Sunday at church India and I went to pick up Jordyn from the nursery. When we got there one of the ladies was feeding her a bottle so we were just chatting and waiting. Linwood came into the room and India ran to him yelling "Daddy!!!" And wouldn't you know it, Jordyn spit her bottle out, tried to sit up and started yelling, "Dada, Dada!" Linwood didn't see this so I quickly snatched her up and whispered, "Mama,Mama,Mama...." in her ear the whole way to the car. I wasn't going to tell Linwood what had happened but I couldn't hold it in. You should have seen the smile that lit up his face and how he puffed his chest out. Of course it is no surprise to you that he has been rubbing it in ever since.
